Do I Have An Accent???
This past week I had a girl pass through town and come stay with me that I hadn't seen or talked to in over 6 years. Erin and I went to Va Tech together and we were both very heavily involved in InterVarsity Christian Fellowship there. I knew Erin at Tech but the two of us never really got to know each other well. She was friends with my old flame Justin (who by the way is recently engaged...CONGRATS JUSTIN!) and my friend Allyson. We had a great time playing catch up, sharing all the gossip we knew on our old InterVarsity buddies, and well...doing our "Allyson impersonations" and sharing our experiences about eating organic food and drinking soy milk w/ Ms. Hubble. According to Allyson, Erin and I were the two women in IV that all the men were chasing...well...good for us I guess...but I don't think either of us saw it that way. :) Maybe the fierce competition between us is what kept us from getting close...and well the fact that she was one of those pretentious business majors...just kiddin' Erin.
But this one comment did manage to leave me concerned. Upon Erin's arrival she greated me with the always flattering "You look great!" (Keep in mind I had just finished running so I was covered in sweat, wearing my very sexy running shorts and t-shirt, and sporting the classic pony tail...although considering that my prime time for getting hit on is when I'm at the gym, maybe this is my sexy look...who knows.) The "You look great" however, was very quickly followed with the "OH MY GOODNESS...You've Gotten a HUGE COUNTRY ACCENT since you left college!"
WHAT?
Is this true? Somebody tell me! I've apparently turned into an even bigger redneck than I was before...God help me! :)
Erin, it was fun...come back and see me soon! Way to march the Hokies to another "IN YOUR FACE" victory on Saturday! (Erin was in the marching band at Tech and made an alumni contribution to the band on Saturday...go Erin!)
