Brief Trips to Sanity

As any of my friends can testify...my life has been one long series of unbelievable but yet hysterical events. Some not so funny at the time...but given time and perspective, they have proved to be the material of great stories that will be told for generations. Maybe my scribbles here will give you some incite into my twisted, but yet entertaining head.

A Little Inspiration for Today: The World is Your Oyster!!

Hey guys!! There has been a lot going on and many things I need to blog about, including my obsession with the Olympics...so please pardon my absence for the last couple of weeks. You would think that not having a full time job these days would mean I would be bored and have plenty of time on my hands, but that is just not the case at all. My Monday night volleyball team is doing extremely well and is making me very proud and we just added one new player to the Thursday night team I play for. This new player has provided some much needed leadership and we have taken a losing team and in one week have started laying down some serious wins...thanks Jeff! In all of this I saw something (actually caught his name on a commercial) and I had to find out more. As you probably know, I am a novice skier (translation: I spend more time trying to get up than I do skiing). Then I saw this guy and I thought: "I have NO excuse". Monte Meier is on the US Ski Team for the 2006 Paralympics. Monte lost one of his legs in an accident at 8 years old, but despite his handicap took up skiing shortly after finishing high school. Now he is one of the best downhill skiers in the world!! Whenever life gets you down, take a look at people like this...the people who should be slapping our faces for all of our ridiculous whining. Take yourself...and all of your baggage, crap, and shortcomings...and get out there and conquer those dreams!!! God expects us to challenge ourselves and push ourselves further than we think we can go. This year make a point of doing something you have always wanted to do...even if it seems a little crazy or beyond your reach...you won't regret it!
