Brief Trips to Sanity

As any of my friends can testify...my life has been one long series of unbelievable but yet hysterical events. Some not so funny at the time...but given time and perspective, they have proved to be the material of great stories that will be told for generations. Maybe my scribbles here will give you some incite into my twisted, but yet entertaining head.

On the Move:

I know it's been awhile since my last update. As I'm sure you've figured out, my quiet spells really just means that things are super-busy! It's the summer and Cory and I find ourselves on the go quite a bit...but I'm not complaining. This weekend before last was a good one! I went back to Winston-Salem after work on Friday and stayed with Nicolle for the weekend. Friday night, Nicolle, Kevin (Nicolle's boyfriend), Cory and I went to the Filling Station and I had my ultimate favorite...the shrimp and grits...yummy. However, we were all a little pitiful after dinner...I was late getting into Winston so we ate late and so we decided to go back to Nicolle's, drink wine, and watch the "Best of Will Ferrell". (So wine, good company, and Will...you know I was happy!) Saturday Nicolle and I hit the stores...we happily wrapped up the shopping with a trip to my two favorite stores in the whole world: The Jewel Box and Ann Taylor Loft. I found out that they are opening a Jewel Box in the Friendly Center in Greensboro so I was estatic!!! We spent a couple hours at the pool and then Cory, Nicolle, and I spent the evening in downtown Winston starting off at the Jazz Fest. On Sunday, Cory, his dad, and I headed up to North Wilkesboro for his family reunion. We had a great time and ate way too much!! I snored in the backseat the whole way home while Cory's Dad drove us home in his big fat Lincoln. :)

This past weekend we finally saw Will Ferrell's new movie Talladega Nights. OMG...so funny!!! I highly recommend it to both Nascar lovers and haters! Saturday we went to Virginia for the annual Bluegrass Festival. We enjoyed our fair food and even ran into one of my co-workers who was competing in the band contest that day.

This weekend we're headed to Blowing Rock. It looks like we should have good weather, so I'm looking forward to some good clean mountain air and some outlet shopping.

Partying Like Rock Stars

This past weekend was our bachorlette party in honor of our bride-to-be Natalie. Natalie and her fiance Tom will be tying the knot in Jamaica on Aug 14th. This is a pic of Natalie with her new nephew...how cute!!! We had a great time!! Our friend Tamara has a friend in Wilmington who was kind enough to leave his house in the hands of 14 girls for the whole weekend while he went to visit his girlfriend.

I did get eaten alive by mosquitoes on Friday night while we were out playing lawn pong and cups...but the trade off for fun was well worth it...although the lawn pong made me sit and pine over the good 'ole dayz when I first got to grad school and we spend every other weekend playing beer pong in somebody's backyard.

Saturday we hit the town and made our way through every bar and dance club in Wilmington. There were two that were particularly cool...one was on a roof and was were we spent the end of the evening dancing in the rain (VERY COOL!) and Rum Runners which is a dualing piano bar. Sorry Cory, but one of the piano players was WAY CUTE!!...but Christy placed dibs on him since she was the only single girl in the bunch. :) My first experience with dualing pianos was on my cruise out west with Tina, Debbie, and "Bubbles". They actually just opened one in Greensboro a month or two ago and it won't be long before Cory and I hit the one there.

We made our way through most of a keg and there were a few videos taken that night that made the evening priceless...a few of the laughs may have been at other's expense...but no one who didn't deserve a good mocking...it's a shame they'll never know. :) The only big thing that went wrong was that poor Tamara managed to drive over the hugest bolt I've ever seen on the way home...so we had to wait for AAA to come rescue us. I am still exhausted from partying like a rock star all weekend, but we were already planning the next bachorlette party as we were leaving. What are we gonna use as an excuse to party once all of us get married? :)
