Brief Trips to Sanity

As any of my friends can testify...my life has been one long series of unbelievable but yet hysterical events. Some not so funny at the time...but given time and perspective, they have proved to be the material of great stories that will be told for generations. Maybe my scribbles here will give you some incite into my twisted, but yet entertaining head.

One Hurdle Jumped and A Happy New Year To All!!!

Hey everyone!!!

I will have to share stories later (especially one about my Christmas tree) but I wanted to check in since I know a few of you rely on this website to see if I'm surviving. No rest for the weary...but I'm forging on. I had my meeting with Susan on Friday to check my thesis format and well, that was easy breezy! I handed her 110 pages that will look nothing like what I hand my committee next Friday...but apparently it looked good. So as of today, my hopes for a Ph.D. are still alive and well. I am sitting here frantically making corrections to my introduction before hitting the town tonight for New Year's. I have my hair all done, a nice coat of sexy makeup, some party earrings on (what was that Ginger: "the bigger the hoop, the bigger the ho!" :) ) and my new pink P.J.s. I guess at some point I'll hang up the academic hat for the day and put the party clothes on.

HAVE A GREAT NEW YEAR'S EVERYONE!!!!! I HAVE A FEELING 2006 IS GONNA BE A GOOD ONE!!!!!!!

Wow Ginger...Looking Hot and Sassy!!!

Ok...so there will be a post later...but thanks to Blubo and gang I have an account on Friendster. As is often said: "it was funny at the time"! So I haven't even thought about it in months when I receive an e-mail from some guy that wants to say "hello"....but we'll discuss that later....

When I got to Friendster to check out my admirer, I saw the new pic that Ginger put up for herself. Ginger...how come I've never seen this outfit...have you told your boyfriend that you're taunting desperate men on the internet with your come hither eyes! (Which you some how manage to pull off through sunglasses...and that is why I love you!) So here it is...for more of you men to lust after. I have such good looking friends!!! It's hard work fitting in!!!! :)

Chewbacca Sings!

Alright I'll admit this is completely random...but that also happens to be why I like it so much! I stole this off Blubo's blog...thanks Blubo (I am having difficulties adjusting to your new "Carpool Report"...but I'll get over it.)

Just watch..you just kind of have to experience it for yourself!

"Chewbacca Sings"

JIBJAB presents: 2-0-5 George Bush's Year in Review!

Good Morning All! I'm actually up and at 'em early this morning trying to make some progress on my thesis...but of course this is painfully early for me...so it was time for a comedy break. DEFINITELY take a look at this...no matter your political standing, you'll have to admit this is pretty freaking funny. JibJab is pretty hysterical in general...but this is classic. Take a look at "2-0-5 George Bush's Year in Review"...and even bear the 30 second commercial first...it is worth it!!!!!!!!!!!!!

In Case You Would Like To Talk To Yourself in the Future...

So there is this new website FutureMe.org where you can go and type out an e-mail to yourself. You can then pick a day in the future (out to the year 2035) to have this e-mail sent to yourself. A kind of "hey you, what's up...from a younger, more ignorant you". Being that I am...well...me, I think I could have fun with this. Well, then again I can have fun with just about anything! I think I will go send an e-mail to myself on January 27th, 2006...it will go something like this....

Dr. Kelly,
Congrats on kicking some ass!!!

I hope you recover soon from that mental breakdown. :)

Love the less superior you,
Ms. Kelly

The best part is that the creators Matt Sly and Jay Patrikios have attached a link to their "wish lists" on Amazon.com incase anyone wants to send them something in order to thank them for their "nifty service". Maybe I should post my wish list on the blog...it is Christmas and all. :)

I hope that each of you and your "future me" are having a fantastic day! Mine is pretty stressful...but we're not looking for that to change until well, probably the summer of 2006.

For Nicolle and Kevin: "Giant Taco Salad Inventor"

Ok...so it's what: Dec. 18th....that gives me 12 days to finish my first draft of my thesis...so yeah...the brain is starting to function in whole new ways due to the rapid and significant release of a battery of stress hormones. But tonight I'm being Miss Productive. I had a blast at the girls Christmas party last night and it was hard to come home and realize that today would not live up to last night's fun. It was time for a break so I decided that I was long overdue for a blog post.

The other week at dinner with Nicolle and her boyfriend Kevin, Kevin and I discovered a common love for the Bud Light: Real Men of Genius Commercials...in particular the "Giant Taco Salad Inventor"! Much to my excitement, Bud Light has added a feature allowing all of us to enhance our joy by downloading MP3 files of the radio spots including the one above. (My brother's favorite is "Mr. Beach Metal Detector Guy"...well, being that he used to be that guy! :) ) Go take a listen...trust me...this procrastination technique is a good one!

And to make the good even better, Bud Light now has it's own e-mail. Just because I could, I now have another e-mail address of which I don't mind giving to you blog readers:
crazyboutvt@budlight.com

Read and enjoy! Let me know your favorites.

P.S. My favorite is the funny clips on the ipods...because (picuture this) I'm at the gym running...working up a good sweat...getting visually undressed by all the YMCA perverts...and I suddenly bust into laughter from my comedic Bud Light commercials...this freaks the crap out of people. For this reason, I had to give up listening to Dane Cook at the gym. :)

Set Your DVRs...It's Time for Hotness!!!

What does one do when she is supposed to be writing...she dreams about what TV she can watch instead. This Wed. Dec 14th at 10pm, the new season of Alias premieres on ABC. Not only is this show fun to watch, but it's filled to the brim with really beautiful people. Ginger's fake husband may be Dane Cook...but my number #1 for the week is Michael Vartan...I mean HELLO...this guy is FINE!!!!!! With eye candy like this...who needs a plot?!

A First for Me..."Hello, Fire Marshall!"

So last night we were in Greensboro celebrating the fact that Cory and a bunch of his friends are practically done with their Master's degrees (Yay, for the getting the crap out of school!) So before the end of the evening we end up in The Blind Tiger in Greensboro listening to The Breakfast Club (an 80's cover band, fantastic) and we're having a great time. I'm enjoying my chic beer and singing along happily and the 2nd set has just begun...when the bartender comes on stage and says that we have to stop, go outside (and it's BLOODY COLD!), and be counted by the fire marshall to make sure we're not over the limit. So sure enough we had to file outside, huddle up for warm, and wait...and wait. Finally, at 1am it is announced that they are 40 people over the limit and that they are being shut down for the evening. At this point, we said good-night and came home and ate junk food and watched the Daily Show. All in all, the evening was still a success...we just had our fun cut short.

"The Office" Christmas Celebration

I've set the goal for myself to have this next version of the paper out to be reviewed by the end of the day. Who knows...but I'll try...which probably means I shouldn't be blogging but well...too late. I always end up watching the most TV when I'm trying to write. Months had gone by over the last year where I hardly watched it at all...but now that I'm stuck in the house with my laptop things are changing. (Amy...remember how I watched a movie a night for a month while I wrote my proposal. :) ) So in the spirit of Christmas, this week I have watched "Elf" and "The Charlie Brown Christmas Special" and soon will be the greatest of them all...."National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation" and "A CHRISTMAS STORY"!!!! (If you haven't seen A Christmas Story...go out and get it tonight!!!!!) One of my new favorite shows was on last night...so amidst some Jimmy V Classic Basketball came The Office. This picture from the show says it all:

Period of Mourning

Well, for some reason my boyz can't seem to show up when it counts. So last night's football game was very painful to say the least. Hopefully, next year Markus Vick will have matured a little bit and will be able to perform under pressure. To comfort myself, I've jumped straight into the middle of Christmas decorating. Of course, in the process of pulling out of my decorations I have made a gigantic mess out of my apartment...but it gives me something to do when I take breaks from working. I'm still a Hokie and proud of it...but it's just a frustrating ride at the moment!

GO HOKIES!!!!

p.s. Marty, congrats on UGA...is that going in the book?

Countdown to Kickoff!!

Well, ladies and gentleman...if you hear screaming tonight it is probably me yelling for or at my Hokies!!! Championship Saturday is building up to the face-off between my Hokies and the Thugs otherwise known as Florida St. We better all know who to cheer for!!!!!! GO HOKIES!!!!

Congrats Auntie Ginger!!!!

I am honored to introduce Dylan Thomas who arrived the day after Thanksgiving!!! Ginger has a fiesty niece and now she is has a cute little nephew to complete the set. Much to their joy, Dylan waited for everyone to get there fill of turkey and fixings before he threw the family into complete chaos. Good luck Dylan...you're gonna grow up surrounded by a bunch of crazies...but if you're lucky you'll turn out cool and charming like us!!!!

And p.s. I have some big news on the horizon...I'll post later!! :)

Kelly's Revenge: The Label...Look for it!

Warning: I haven't actually tasted this stuff yet, but I'll let you know when I do...but hey it's wine...how bad can it be? :)

Kelly's Revenge!!!

That's right kidz...it appears there is a new collection of Australian wine that is in tribute to me!!! :) How perfect...it is important (just like this wine) to enjoy Kelly safely and in moderation and it is from the continent of Kelly's favorite men. (Yes...I have a thing for hot Australian men with thick accents...yummy...if you have one of these accents then you can talk to me about whatever you want for as long as you want!!) I think I will drinking some of this out of the graduated cylinder David bought for me the night after my thesis defense.

Here is the companys description of their wine...fantastic:

Had a hard day? Stress getting to you? Work getting you down? Kelly’s Revenge is perfect at the end of a long day. This great new range of Australian wines is packed full of fruit flavours and finished off with attitude. Strong, bold and full of character Kelly can handle anything. Kick back, relax, forget about the pressures and take revenge with Kelly. It’s all about you now. ARE YOU UP FOR IT?

"Strong, bold and full of character Kelly can handle anything." - I would tend to agree! :)
